Pharmaceutical
formulations with mini tablets is not a recent development.
For certain areas of indications, this type of administration has
been used
successfully for almost 20 years.
Mini tablets are currently the focus of development in pharmaceutical
preparations aimed at the specific requirements of child-friendly
drug delivery.
For this patient group in particular the possibility of administering
precisely
proportioned minute dosages may be highly beneficial.
Of particular interest are scientific publications from 1998 onwards,
which,
among other things, study the unfavourable densification behaviour
of
certain drugs and which indicate that higher concentrations of drugs
that are
difficult to compress, influence the properties of mini tablets
less negatively
than those of normally sized tablets.
In the context of studying and describing the properties of mini
tablets
we would like to refer to a number of theses written at the University
of
Hamburg under the supervision of Prof. Jobst B. Mielck. |
