With a multiple tool,
a number of individual punches are fixed on a holder. Thus one pressing
action produces more than one tablet.
The tablet diameters possible with B or D standard tools range from
4-10 mm (tablets with a diameter < 4 mm are now commonly referred
to as mini tablets; we call multiple tools for mini tablets “mini
tabletting tools”).
Individual punches can be fixed with a cap/
transverse
pin-/ or so-called "mushroom
attachment".
We usually use a push-on cap, as this type of attachment offers
high production reliability.
Where space is tight, a transverse pin attachment may be necessary,
e.g. the punches of a double-tip tool for a tablet diameter of 8
mm can be fixed to a “B-type holder” with a transverse
pin; there is no room for an additional cap.
The following table will give you an overview of
how many punches can be produced on a B or D type standard tool
when a certain tablet diameter (between 4 and 10 mm) is desired.
